The first known historical references about Quinta da Pellada appear around 1570, here there is still a century house. XVI built facing an interior courtyard, like a fortified manor house. Álvaro de Castro is a civil engineer and inherited this property in 1980, dedicating himself exclusively to it, he re-established the family tradition in wine production, which had been broken for two generations.

The vines aged between 3 and 65 years are installed at an average altitude of 550 m. The total area is 60 ha, where the typical varieties of the region are planted in granite-based soil with lines of sand and clay: Encruzado, Cercial, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Jaen, Alfrocheiro, Baga and Vinha Velha with more of 30 different varieties.
