Dona Berta Vinhas do Avô Reserva Red 2018

39.80

The Dona Berta Vinhas do Avô Reserva Red 2018 is a tribute to the founder of the brand, Eng. Hernâni Verdelho. Thus, and as the name suggests, the intention was to make a wine that praised the quality of the grapes, coming from a very old vineyard, about 100 years old, and the excellence of the Freixo de Numão terroir – one of the best in the Douro. for table wines – thanks to its high altitude.

The aroma is rich, somewhat discreet at first, with notes of wild berries, reminiscent of blueberries, dry vegetable, wet earth and oak vanilla. In the mouth it is balanced and elegant, associated with the richness of tannins and some minerality. The ending is triumphant, leaving good memories.

The wine is ready to drink, especially for those who appreciate young wines, however it will improve a lot with time in the bottle, and it is worth keeping some to follow its evolution. Only 1300 bottles were bottled, all individually numbered.

It has not been treated by the cold and can therefore form a slight precipitate over time, which in no way impairs the quality of the wine.

It can accompany all kinds of meat dishes and some fish dishes, such as grilled salmon.
